In this article, I will take you through the steps to install Okular PDF Viewer on Ubuntu 20.04 LTS (Focal Fossa). Okular is a KDE based free and open source multi platform universal document viewer mainly used for reading pdf documents, comics and EPub books. It is also used for opening many other types of files including images and markdown documents. Okular has a wide range of features that allows you to easily manage your documents. How to Install Okular PDF Viewer on Ubuntu 20.04 LTS (Focal Fossa)

Step 1: Prerequisites
a) You should have a running Ubuntu 20.04 LTS Server.
b) You should have sudo or root access to run privileged commands.
c) You should have apt-get utility available in your System.
Step 2: Update Your Server
First let's sync the system with all the latest available updates from Ubuntu repo using apt-get update command as shown below. If any of the packages needs to be upgraded then run apt-get upgrade command as well.

Step 3: Install Okular PDF Viewer
In the next step, you can install Okular PDF viewer by using apt-get install okular command as shown below. This will download and install the Okular package from Ubuntu repo along with all the required dependencies.

Step 4: Open PDF Using Okular
Go to Activities and search okular in the Search Box. Once it shows up, click on it as shown below.
Once it is opened, it should look like below. To open a pdf file, click on File and then select Open to open a pdf file.

Step 5: Uninstall Okular PDF Viewer
Once you are done with PDF Viewer, it can be uninstalled from the System by using apt-get remove okular command as shown below. You can also remove all the packages that were automatically installed and now no longer required by using apt autoremove command.
